1956 Shiori Set

Description: Not a menko set, but nice photos on this Bookmark set. Bookmarks are popular in Japan and this is a typical bookmark set from the era. I suppose these photos could be cut out from the bookmark, but have always seen bookmarks in tack. This set includes all the popular sumo rikishi from 1956 including Asashio when he was only a Komusubi. It's very unusual to find bookmarks in good condition and with their original packing envelopes so if you see any of these be sure to pick them up.

Front Design: Black and White bust photo of the rikishi on the non-Yokozuna shiori. Yokozuna shiori has the Yokozuna in their tsuna with attendants and gyoji in the background. Shikona appears horizontal across the bottom of each photo with the rikishi's birth prefecture. Yokozuna shiori has heya name as well as the shikona and birth prefecture.
