1970s Sumo Menko "The New Era" The popularity of sumo fluctuated throughout the 1970s and a few companies tried to cash in on the trading card market. In 1973, the Calbee Corporation issued a set of mini-cards in bags of their potato chips, however, the idea didn't seem to sell well and thus were discontinued after only one year. In 1975, the Nihon Sumo Kyokai issued minicards as well and these are probably the easiest to find of all the 1970s cards, albeit, they are still quite difficult to find. |
